SAVE THE DERWENT VALLEY RAILWAY LINE

The Derwent Valley Railway is under threat of closure from a draft proposal from the local council, to convert the rail corridor into a bike trail.

This would effectively spell the end for the heritage rail infrastructure on this beautiful and scenic route and would end over 35 years of hard work and endeavour from the Society in running train services and undertaking preparatory work to reinstate train services since they were unilaterally stopped, almost overnight, around 20 years ago.

The council is holding this series of events over the next few weeks. If you care about the Derwent Valley Railway and would like it to restore train services along the picturesque Derwent Valley line again, then please attend one or more of these workshops and let the council know of you feelings.

Please don’t leave it until it’s too late!

Act now!
